Uniplay are specialists in thermoplastic playground markings, so when they approached us to create a high-impact 3D floor graphic for their exhibition stand, we knew this wasn’t just about bold visuals - it was about technical precision and real-world application. The brief was to design an engaging, immersive 3D scene that would draw in foot traffic and lead eyes straight to the centre: a QR code offering exclusive show promotions. The design needed to be dramatic enough to stand out in a busy exhibition hall, yet practical enough to be manufactured and laid flawlessly.
We collaborated closely with the Uniplay production team, developing visuals with meticulous attention to depth, shading, and material constraints. The result was a fully bespoke 3D graphic that not only captured attention but translated seamlessly into thermoplastic reality. From concept to final cut files, we ensured it was not only striking - but completely buildable, testable, and ready to perform on the ground.
Immersive 3D Concept & Illustration
The first challenge was creating a 3D illusion that truly pulled people in. We conceptualised a design that played with depth, perspective, and playful colour to simulate a three-dimensional environment on a flat surface. The goal was visual intrigue - something that would stop passers-by in their tracks.
Every detail was hand-crafted to work with the real-world angles people would view it from on the showroom floor. It wasn’t just about digital art; it was about creating an illusion that would hold up at scale and from every direction. Eye-catching, immersive, and clever.
Practical for Thermoplastic Manufacturing
Designing for thermoplastic marking comes with specific constraints - and that’s where design met engineering. We didn’t just hand off visuals; we reverse-engineered the concept to make sure it could be manufactured and installed with total accuracy. Colours, shapes, and details were tailored to Uniplay’s production process.
Every element was carefully considered to work with their cutting technology, from line thickness to colour blocking. The final artwork was split into layers and segments, with manufacturing files provided to make the install as efficient as possible - zero guesswork, full precision.
QR Code Integration for Engagement
At the heart of the design sat a functional QR code - seamlessly blended into the aesthetic but clear and easy to scan. This wasn’t just an art piece; it was a conversion tool. We ensured the code stood out just enough to guide users’ attention without breaking the visual flow of the 3D illusion.
Its placement, scale, and contrast were tested and refined so it would work under real-life lighting and viewing conditions. The result: a smart, scannable call to action that became part of the experience, not an afterthought.
Collaboration & Field Testing
Bringing the design to life meant close collaboration with Uniplay’s internal team. We worked hand-in-hand through testing, tweaking the visuals based on prototype installs and feedback from the field. Adjustments were made for edge clarity, colour contrast, and manufacturing tolerance.
This wasn’t a one-and-done project - it was a process of refinement and iteration. Our focus was ensuring the visual strength translated into real-world impact, with a flawless finish. From design reviews to technical revisions, the process was as collaborative as it was creative and the results speak for themselves.
